#358 summer

after BKK, i felt a little of withdrawals and until now i'm still having the urge to pick up my passport to travel.

this post would sum up what i've done in the past week :)

for starters, i made Nutella bars for Derek/HuiYing's chalet which turned out to be so heath, seriously! its damn rich and chocolatey but really HEATY.

oats + lots of chocolatey goodness! sounds like koko crunch heh.
the next day, baoyi and i went for 'interviews' (more to fill up forms actually) and we had Song Fa BKT! this branch's at Clarke Quay, opposite Central. damn awesome souppppp *slurps* if you ever want to go down to try it, please do so during non peak hours cos i think there would be crazy crowds during mealtimes.

dear baobaooo

YUM NOMZ.
we had a blast at Derek's chalet, bowling, MJ, chilling and surprising Looee with a new uke for his birthday! :) played in-between, categories, bang the bus.. and we barely finished half a bottle of Raspberry Absolut, which smelled like medicine :/

Derrick is as unlucky as can be. Ah Bao got the same thing also i think. hahaha

HuiYing's birthday cheesecake! odd shape cos she cut the sides to eat alr haha!
next day was day out with my fav girl, eugeeee ^^ we went for brow threading (virgin experience) and then hunted for a place to eat! it was too early for dinner so we just wandered around from Little India to Bugis.. and we ended up at Laksania. the gravy is so-so but i think it's not at all worth to eat at that place!! *stabs cos there were much better food around*

had dessert at one of the shops along the small streets behind (the place with many steamboat buffets) and one small bowl of peanut paste was absolutely.. filling. peanut paste should incorporate bits of peanut to chew on!! it would make the paste less ni4 hahaha.

then the next day was yet another virgin experience for me.. facial! damn painful omg i was really dying.. well i thought i was, from all that pain. i have pretty high tolerance for pain but that was one of my more painful experiences ever :/

on friday, there was the Social Star Awards 2013 concert! went down with Bao, Derrick, Van and Louis! it was pretty bad due to all the standing and uh.. unknown (to us) songs.. but Carly Rae Jepsen was soooo good! hehe. there were lucky people who got to touch her hand (sounds a little wrong, i know) and also 2 fans who got her autograph while she was performing!

picture taken from Bao's camera, Louis captured this! pro photographer jiu shi pro ^^
Psy was a crowd pleaser, and the crowd went really wild when he performed Gentleman and Gangnam Style! the other 2 songs he performed were not too bad as well :)

but after his performance (and a long waiting time) Cee Lo came on stage to about half the audience left only :X many people had left after seeing Psy.. sigh i felt that it was quite sad for him uh. we stayed for a few songs and eventually left because it was already 11+PM!

while waiting for Cee Lo to come on..
and that's what i've done thus far! weekends were spent at home, watching shows and stuff.. met YJ yesterday for a little gym session after driving, and yesterday was some good ol' alone time at CBTL :) went over to nick's for dinner in the evening and we spent a few good hours together.

oh, and i got a job! tomorrow's gonna be my first day and i hope that all will go well! (cross fingers cross toes)

#357 BKK trip with ze hallies :D

disclaimer: photos are all taken with my iPhone, so please pardon the lousy quality

we didn't take a group photo before flying, and i only took one photo of my passport with my boarding pass before flying, hehe. i think there are a few shots of the girls in Bao's super speed shutter camera!

we're soaring, flying.. to BKK! :)
after the 2 hours flight on JetStar (which has uncomfortable seats so we all woke to stiff necks, but i heard that Tiger Airways is even worse), we arrived at BKK's airport and broke our 1000 baht notes by purchasing certain nonsense items at the airport and i smartly gave a 100 baht note and kept on counting my money thereafter because i only received 60 baht change :X

we then proceeded to take the train!

train tokens which are similar to our ez-link cards, whereby it is tapped as well. we were wondering where do we return these tokens and apparently they are inserted into the tapping machine before we could exit the gantry :)

while taking the public transport in BKK.. we realize that no one will ever sleep on the train for long hahaha. the train doors close with an ultra loud BANG that shocked all of us the first time we heard it, esp Derrick who was standing so close to the doors heh.

after a train ride of approximately 40 mins, we arrived at our stop (no idea what's the name) and we walked for about 15 mins to our hotel! we stayed at Budacco because i've read that many people really like this place due to its good service and its location is pretty convenient too.

and we were not disappointed!

we were greeted with grapefruit juice upon arrival, along with warm towels to freshen up :)
the staff at the hotel were really helpful and friendly, promptly opening the doors for us and helping us to safeguard our keys when we were out :) the rooms were clean and pretty due to the bright colored themes in every room. cheryl and i resided in a bluish/turquoisy room!

seriously.. pardon the quality of my photos :'(
after placing our bags in the hotel, we moved out to go to Chatuchak! how could we miss the weekend market right! split into 2 cabs to cab down :)

andddd we started off with awesome coconut ice cream!!! :D it was damn refreshing and good under the sweltering heat of BKK. i really wonder how the girls there still maintain such good complexions under the terrible weather..

for 35 baht (approx $1.30), you get a half coconut cup with scraped coconut, one scoop of ice cream and 2 toppings! choose from: corn, nata de coco, peanuts and atap seeds :) this stall is damn cute they even stick a tiny flag on top of their ice cream to advertise their fb page!

LX and i. look at the tiny flag!! hehe.
after tolerating the horrible heat plus shopping for a few hours, we had lunch! chicken noodles that tasted kind of like bak kut teh! damn niceeee :)

cheryl bought thai iced milk tea which was DAMNNNN GOOD. it looks more orange in real life than in the photo hehe but it's really holyyyy ^^

after shopping for the entire afternoon at Chatuchak, all 9 of us reunited and headed over to Union Mall where we split into 2 groups for dinner! had A&W for dessert and got reminded of how awesome my childhood was with it opened at 201! pity it closed down all around SG :(

self made root beer float, we added the ice cream that came with the waffle into the root beer teehee

the combo that cost 50 baht ($2) per person! shared between wilson derrick louis baoyi and i! cheryl was.. asleep.

damn goooood fries!! ^^
after dinner, we headed to walk around the mall but i think none of bought anything because prices were comparable to that of SG so.. yup. haha split into 2 cabs and guess what, our cab driver had no idea where Budacco or even Baiyoke Sky (one of the most iconic buildings in BKK due to its height) so we dropped off at a random mall to ask for directions and ended up at a supermarket which resembled Giant Hypermart! bought quite a few boxes of snacks and also damn good ham and cheese Pretz!

after the grocery shopping, we flagged a cab and headed back to our hotel.. where we went on to get an awesome FULL BODY THAI MASSAGE! (just next door of our hotel, how convenient right)

happy faces in anticipation of the massage
we were told to wait for about 45 mins before 7 of us (excluding the couple cos LX didn't want) could get our massage so we went to 7-11 to buy snacks! bought cup noodles and also THAI YAKULT! so niceeee omg hehe.

BESTTT!!!
the massage was damn awesome hahaha all our bones were cracked and loosened and we all concussed once we hit the sheets. like really, thai massages have such a strong effect that for the 2 nights i had massage, i knocked out INSTANTLY. for the other night that i didn't get a massage, my sleep wasn't that good :/

woke at 850AM to freshen up and get downstairs for brekkie :)

the spread for the buffet was pretty awesome, with the traditional ham, eggs, sausages, cereal and toast, as well as fried rice, pasta, salad and also random soups. this breakfast revved us up for the 3 days that we had it, because we would eat so much that we could stand having a late lunch!

for those who know me, you should know that i MUST eat something when i am hungry. so this brekkie keeps me filled up enough to shop more without complaining! :)

koko krunch with cut fruits, drizzled with honey. YUM
the guys went for a suit fitting after brekkie, and we just sat there waiting to go to PLATINUM FASHION MALL!!

waiting.......
shopped for a few good hours and headed on to get lunch! we wanted to try the raved pork rice but sadly it was sold out as we were too late :( but we had wanton mee which was not too bad, but a tad oily. (idk why i don't have a photo i think i was too ravenous)

had an appetite for dessert and so cheryl and i shared a crepe consisting of Nutella and banana! DAMN GOOD HEHE i love the taste of warm nutella (slurps)

doesn't look v appetizing but the contents are damnnnn good!!
and for dinner, we had tomyum at the stall next to the wanton mee that we had for lunch! hehe. the tomyum wasn't spicy but it was delicious!! like, it was the right balance of flavors and i absolutely loved it ^^

thai tea that i shared with Cheryl! tasted like grass jelly hehe.

our seafood tom yum with milk soup that was super tasty! :P

random view while waiting for cab
after dinner, all of us cabbed down to MBK to do more shopping!! hehe. we kind of got separated from each other for a while, and then met up again at the supermarket to buy..

MILO ICE CREAM!! THIS COSTS ONLY 10 BAHT I HAD IT AGAIN THE NEXT DAY HEHE baoyi and i freaking loved it!! ^^

yummy yummy yummy 10 baht ($0.40) ice cream teehee :))
bought a bit of food, and 2 bags from MBK! 199 baht bags galore there :O (roughly $8)

took my first tuk tuk ride! and my partners were andrea and wilson :D we split into 3 tuk tuks and the drivers were all gangsters man, going against traffic + at damn fast speeds!!

fun ride!!!
second night was spent packing, trying a lot of clothes (because we bought the most this day i think, from Platinum Mall)

then we slept. HAHAHA.

third day's #OOTD for all of us was singlets with shorts! (90 baht for each singlet!! #cheapcheap)

with my new shorts too!

le roomie with her brekkie :)
second round of Platinum after brekkie, and it was really against my will that i overspent again.. sigh:(

had lunch at KFC and tried their green curry! it was nicer than i expected it to be hehe.

after lunch was.. MORE SHOPPING. hehe. we went back to our hotel to put down our stuff and then headed out again! had street pad thai for dinner that was SOOOOOO GOOD hehe. it tastes different from that sold in sg, yummier! :))

cook cook cook, though its not our orders i think hehe.

our Pad Thai with Egg! ^^
went back to MBK again after our light dinner and shopped more.. think i didn't buy much then already hehe. *SELF CONTROL* bought a few small things at Siam Night Market though :)

oh and random but.. OMG THERE'S HUGE SIZES OF THAI YAKULT!! hahahaha hugeass man i wonder how anyone can drink one of that ginormous size! sorry but my photo doesn't show it; THERE'S AN EVEN BIGGER SIZED ONE BESIDES THIS ONE! haha!

had mango sticky rice, my one and only one in my 4 days of BKK, so sad :'( but this was so damn yumz hehe. baoyi actually tried this, plus the pad thai as mentioned above!! she finally stepped out of her comfort zone a teeny weeny bit, so proud of her :')

after walking around for so long in those 3 days.. we decided to go for a massage for another time ^^ hehe.

hilarious wilson laughing the moment the person started scrubbing his feet HAHA.

le pretty roomie!!
after the massage, i was damn hungry so.. 2 different cup noodles to share between cheryl and i!

left: green curry, right: shrimp tomyum vermicelli :D
on the last day, we rushed back to Platinum 2 mall to get some last minute shopping done and i bought a few things despite myself being broke already :((

then we cabbed to Siam Paragon for Magnum Cafe!! ^^

random photo taking, as part of some idk what thing also HAHA.
finally, the long awaited Magnum Cafe!

GROUP PHOTO!! :D

since it was already the last day of the trip, most of us were broke already and hence we could only afford the 80 baht ($3+) customized Magnum ice creams instead of the fondue which made me pretty upset but when the Magnums came, they all looked so pretty!! ^^

YY's one hahaha he complained that this was too girly for him cos of the pink hearts!

Cheryl/Baoyi's (i forgot)

Wilson's kiddy looking one teehee

MINEEEEE! :))
we had some time left before the final fitting for the guys, and thus we stopped by for some Krispy Kreme YUMMMMM :)

random obscene toilet photo from Siam Paragon hehe
so anyway.. here are the photos of my loots!! i love most of my loot but some of them are not really of excellent quality so.. hahaha.

Day One
Day Two
Day Three
Day Four
Days One to Three
this trip was so fun and exciting because it's kind of my first time traveling with my friends, and this bunch of friends are really damn awesome people :) i'll really miss the feeling of being kings and queens too, because we cab/tuktuk everywhere hehe. and also the awesome massages that we laughed so much about when someone's damn scared of the tickley feeling! plus, the yumz food that we had together also!

hoping to travel with these people again in the future, and also with those who didn't come along this time around! :D

really extremely zz about the fact that my photos suck on the mac SIGH :<
