i've created a Dayre account! haha so far i've updated it only for 2 days though. it's like a mishmash of Insta and Twitter i suppose? it's more of a mini blog i guess.. i love it cos it uploads quick and is easy to use!

#376 week 13

it's the final studying week of this semester! and i can't help but feel that this sem has flew by wayyy too quickly. it has been a damn lazy sem for me, cos i have a three day week hehe.

but i'm just gonna pass away next sem man sigh :<

this week is gonna be hell but hopefully after that it will be pretty much more smooth sailing..

i feel so so so stupid right now about something.. LE SIGH.

i'm stuck in class right now and thus am gonna spew out a pretty incoherent post so please forgive me.

i'm currently feeling that school is extremely draggy now.. like, there are so many other things that i can probably be doing with my life but i'm stuck in school.

haha oh well, life.

i've also come to another realisation, just now. this one's for myself only though because i guess everyone's at a different point in their life currently. i'm not really focusing everything on my studying now, and there are a few reasons for it. one of which would be due to my laziness (as usual), but there's another reason for it too.

it's a really boring lesson that i'm sitting through now, 4 hours of dreariness to be exact.

i hear thunder from outside and it'll probably rain soon.

Ben and Jerry's coming to Hall 10 later though, *excites* and the biz mag is gonna keep a few for those of us who end at 6-freaking-30.

btw i'm extremely sorry for the lack of updates on my blog, i actually have quite a lot of photos (from my I4) loaded into an untitled post and more photos that aren't on yet but i've yet to find time to word out the photos into a proper post. however, please check my Instagram out @alvinaaa_ cos i upload photos q frequently there, hehe.

confusing feelings and thoughts occur in my head on a daily basis and this accounts for my lack of focus too. thank goodness i'm only taking 3 finals this semester. otherwise i'll be soooo super screwed.

kay it's raining outside now. i can hear it.

the prof is droning on and on, i wonder how people actually pay so much attention to everything that he says.

on a random note, i am super thankful for friends who are there for me. when i'm upset i have people to turn to, and i am really extremely grateful for that. you know who you are ;) hugs to you.

and this very special friend of mine who has the same name as my roomie.. she climbed up to pass me a small gift (twice already actually) and i love her a lot for that. random small acts that put a smile on my face. she doesn't even know what made me sad but she's so encouraging about it; telling me to stay positive and to think like her (hahaha)

honestly i'm super grateful towards what i have in life now :')

funny isn't it, my thoughts have revolved around the different aspects of my life and now at 4:52PM i've felt bored/dreary/sad and now finally thankful.

am gonna learn to channel more positivity into my life and do it every single day.

done with this post now, shall attempt to listen to what Master Robert has to say.

#374 sunday morning/rain is falling

extremely lazy Sunday again hehe but that's cos i have nothing due in the coming week.. am so gonna die the next week as i have 3 quizzes!!

baked chocolate chip cookies yesterday cos i felt like it.. and they turned out pretty decent i guess. besides commenting that they were a little on the sweet side, my parents both felt that they tasted good YAYYY. am bringing a whole bunch to hall hehe so sorry to those who want to try but i'll be stuck in Pulau NTU so please make your way there if you wish to try some.

there's a public hol this coming tues.. BUT I'LL STILL BE HAVING CLASS WTH zzz this is nonsense. i'll probably leave during break cos the prof is boring :/ sigh.

everyone, please try to inject some positivity into life because we only live life once. this is not a YOLO statement or something, but i've learnt that life will turn out the way that you want it to be, IF you want it enough. the outcomes of things are usually how you want it to be if you do it with the mindset of the wanted outcome. it's a little difficult for myself to explain this but i experienced it for my own just 2 days ago on Friday :)

#371 Supper Hop/Farewell for now

(another extremely overdue post)

the last event of the Social portfolio would be Supper Hop! this year, we made a trip to four places and they were Satay By The Bay, Swee Choon Dim Sum, Simpang Bedok and Rochor Beancurd.

i've never been to SBTB before and i thought that even though the satays were not bad, it's a little bit pricey and a better alternative would be good ol' Bedok 85 hehe.

stingray that a few of us shared! it's not really fantastic though.. i still love the Lau Pa Sat one that i had after fireworks on NDP hehe.

my freshies :) sigh it was a pity that none of the girls came :'<

next stop for the 50/51 bus was Swee Choon! :)

Simpang was a complicated affair as the pre orders were slow (despite being preorders) and everyone was feeling so stuffed!

Rochor Beancurd was.. i kind of forgot actually, cos i only shared a bowl with derek and i was in a food coma then hehe.

okay but anyways, along the way people went up to sing songs and it was all pretty fun :)

supper hop happened on fri night till the wee hours of saturday.. and on sunday we met up for Derek's farewell lunch, before he flies off for exchange in Philly!

on monday night, looee came to pick us (raq cheryl me) from hall and we went home so that we could go to the airport in the morning to send Derek off! hehe. had breakfast with him and then he went off! gna miss his quirkiness and all the fun he brings to our group when he's not around for this semester :/

but of course i hope that he has tons of fun and comes back with exciting stories to share with us ^^

they say that love is blind.

I won't deny, that I would definitely need a long time to fully get over you and also to put everything past me. i'm glad that things ended well between us and that we are still friends :)

i know things in the future would definitely change between us as we get more involved in our own lives but for now i guess i'm just slowly letting things go.

(crap i lost the whole damn post and idk why.. this was typed about a week before but its gone now)

but yeah i've joined the singles club now (as put across by Raq) and it feels.. different from what i used to feel.

#369 overdue photos and memories

before school officially started (and after FOC), i met up with Mab a few times and on this particular day we made an impromptu trip to PasarBella!

good food and good company rocks ^^

we managed to hunt down some awesome foods! 

photo below shows a normal white paper cup. but it contains the most awesome drink ever! extremely thirst quenching and fresh PEAR JUICE. it's handmade, with no preservatives whatsoever and it tastes damn good! being cheapo us, we took at least 2 cups each because the aunty was so nice and let us finish the sample that she had :) there's another cup and that was something we bought hehe. iced passion mango tea, with a scoop of fresh mango sorbet!! this is so damn tasty too hehe i don't understand how can mango sorbet be so good yknow haha it tastes just like real mango, but even better cos its freezing cold ^^

as for the types of food we had.. we shared 3 food items but i've omitted one of their photos because the photo wasn't nice plus the taste was just BLEH. 

anyway, we ordered one of the hotdogs (from Huber) but i forgot what it's called already :< it was good though hehe i loved it :) BBQ sauce was added by yours truly ok hehe.

we had the mushroom truffle pasta too!! it was my first time trying truffle, and the smell was really strong. the pasta is damn rich haha lucky we shared it, otherwise i would have been too stuffed!!

the foods above were all worth it, so if you ever make a trip down to PasarBella, please try them too!

after PasarBella, we headed to TPY for desserts and we went to Creamier!! the waffles were damn good hehe but some of the flavors of ice cream i tried were sadly disappointing :( idk where my photo of ice cream waffles went to already sigh but it's on my Instagram (@alvinaaa_) if you haven't seen it before! it looks really heavenly hehe *slurps*

on the same week, i went to The Coastal Settlement for brunch!

photos speak for themselves! the food there was pretty good and the ambience was pleasant too hehe definitely worth a try and i would wna go back there again!

still on the same week (last week of holidays), on National Day we had a block outing to Nook Pancakes and got featured on their FaceBook page!

Derek and I shared the rainbow pancakes which were pretty good! each color of the pancakes tasted different and when it all came together it was q tasty :P

the next day at night, we went back to school to play this new game called Resistance which was similar to Polar Bear but with cards and slightly more high leveled.

i think we played till 6 in the morning and then slept till 12 before heading out for brunch!! it was really good food and good company hehe brunch was chicken porridge at Jurong West hawker centre. there was ALOT of chicken and yusheng as well and it only cost abt $6 per person for that whole bunch of food as seen below ^^

on week 2, we had our traditional supper to Ah Fang which happens every start of the year, and this year's turn out was awesome man. so many people came along!

as my shoes gave way even before the run, i decided to get new kicks with the 25% discount off New Balance stuff! (form color run) got these pretty new kicks the day after the run hehe ^^

sorry about being so lazy and not updating my blog sigh i have no idea what's coming over me :( and for the slipshoddiness of this post cos i'm rushing! another post will be coming up soon! (hopefully) i've already uploaded the photos but haven't started typing anything into the post yet hehe.

#368 stay/go/stay/go

some people stay while others go.

i'm an only child, and hence i treasure my friends (probably) a lot more than they do, me. sometimes it gets a little bit frustrating because i expect too much from them sigh.

but i'm so glad that i have friends who are always there for me, to talk nonsense as well as to hang out with me :) i need to express my gratitude more than ever.

am glad for nights in hall too, where we just slack and play without a care in the world. these moments mean millions to me, more than anyone would ever know.

haha, incoherent thoughts being typed down while i'm doing up work for my green module. yucks man i have no idea what i'm supposed to be doing also. Derek is flying off tomorrow, and another friend has already flown off today.

exchange seems so damn fun, i really want to go! more than ever before. i want to go with a bunch of close friends and just play without a care in the world, without the worries of an adult.

i'm reallyyyy bored in hall now i think imma take a nap again haha. late nights haven't been doing my complexion any good at all sigh. since saturday night, we have been sleeping at 4+ (earliest) every night!!!

week 2 absolutely cannot be like that anymore sigh :(

#366 Day Zero

officially starting school only tomorrow (just out to make everyone in hall jealous hehe)

my modules are still pretty screwed right now, cos i only have 13 AUs (2 cores, 2 electives) sigh. not too sure if it will be like this or will i get something else? i'm a little lazy to do anything about it already just want to slack my last day of holiday away~

i had a pretty good last week of holiday, went for facial (but my face and skin color is still chao ta due to camp), and had A LOT of good food which you would have seen if you follow me on Instagram ^^ hehe. explored PasarBella and Creamier with Mab, had Sushi Tei with Ding the next day and went to The Coastal Settlement the day after. photos are all in my phone so i MIGHT upload in my next post hehe.

had an outing to Nook House of Pancakes with my freshies too, on National Day! turnout was much better than i expected man, honestly. initially i was quite worried that the freshies wouldn't come so it would end up being more like a seniors outing! but quite a lot of them came down yay :) twas a good night.

Saturday night was a trip back to hall, with dinner at Poulet with Cheryl Louis and Derrick! then we played this new game called Resistance (bought by Kenn) until.. 7+ in the morning? slept till 12 and had brunch at Jurong West hawker centre! the chicken porridge and yu sheng was damn filling and goooooood. sigh soon there won't be Bon and Derek around anymore so sad :(

soooo. that was my last week of holidays! school starts tomorrow lezzgo!

have been pretty busy with Hall X FOC for the past week, as well as with outings and such ever since i stopped work.. well things have changed a lot but i guess change is really the only constant. i cannot expect that things will revet back to what it used to be, and now is the transition period whereby things can go either way.

for those of you who have no idea what i'm going on about, you can ask me personally.

some days i feel like shit, but some days i manage to forget about these things. i know that someday, it will all get better.

#364 12 July 2013/thoughts

ultimate TGIF today! it was my last day of work at Nanyang Learning/(a little bit of) Motor Insurance/(a little bit of) POW Productions! all in all, i've learnt quite a fair bit about what real work is like, and i can say that it's approximately 10% of what we have been learning from our books. some of the people whom i've interacted with feel that books aren't that important; and one particular person feels that what you study may be entirely thrown out once you step into the workforce! he came out to work, as an NTU graduate, just like how i would be in 2 years time. but he's an financial advisor now, which is a 180 degrees change from what he studied (computer science if i'm not mistaken).

i know that many people have said this before, that what you studied may not be what you are doing in the future. however, now i really see it for myself! maybe it's cos i don't really have friends who are much older than me, so i can't see how futures pan out after graduation. but after working in the same office as my boss/other people (they aren't my colleagues, technically. so i have no idea how to address them), i realize that the working world is so different from my current studying life. studying is way more comfortable and chill compared to working.. and all of a sudden i feel a tinge of sadness.

I DON'T WANT TO GROW UP :(

i'm not saying that i want to be stuck being a kid forever. of course i want to mature, to grow in spirit and in good time with my friends and family. but i really dread starting out in the workforce and getting the feeling of loneliness and loss as i need to maneuver on my own. i really fear that.. i do.

so, i have to learn how to be strong and to be able to face any challenge thrown at me! that would be a start to prepare myself for the long and winding road ahead of me called life.

oh and for now i have to utilize my holidays to the fullest, to show how much i treasure the people around me; the ones who matter the very most :) and to do this, i am going to show little acts of love to them! hehe. today i felt so blessed on my last day at work, as my colleague was too sweet! she came down all the way from Jurong especially to see me on my last day, and to buy me lao ban! she's really too sweet to be true already :')

i've started on it! met mab for dinner today hehe. i'm gonna miss her not being just a stone's throw away in hall (adjacent blocks) SIGH :< as the saying goes, you never appreciate it until it's gone. truly applicable :(

just a little reminder to everyone out there: treasure your loved ones and treat them with respect, care, trust and lots of lurveeee. give them more of your time :) i'm trying hard everyday to accomplish this to the best that i can and i hope that you are doing that too! ;)

#363 can you understand this?/updates!

i feel like this sometimes but you don't seem to understand.

this is my last week at work, and i can't wait for the week to end! but that will also mean that holidays are drawing to end soon.. sigh. it's quite a bad start to the week, as i'm feeling sick.. seems like it's because both my parents are down with a flu bug too (my dad last week, my mum now)

i had a pretty good week last week! met Nick on tuesday and we had a simple dinner together and thereafter had the durian McFlurry from Macdonalds! walked around and all too..

then the next day derrick lixuan andrea alex and i met up to do the short video for hall's FOC! it was pretty hilarious cos we filmed it at a small room inside one of Ikea's showroom! we thought that it will be quiet but people kept walking past and alex found it so embarrassing cos he need to go topless for the video HAHAHA. it was all in all an amusing experience hehe. bon came over to take a look but we were done already, and yong yeh sat at the sofa right outside our room reading a book haha he's damn funny we thought that he was reading some random Ikea book at first!

met with Bao and Louis for dinner at the Cathay on thursday and we had cheap food at Saizeriya! :) after finishing we just hung around to chat and all.. although there was only the three of us, it was still damn fun talking about everything under the sun hehe ^^

friday was my course registration day.. the day i spent an entire afternoon trying to get a module with non-existent places :/ i had initially wanted to wake up really  late because i was super tired, but i awoke to messages that made me panic! i was told that i can't add modules that were not in the 'recommended track' for marketing students and that meant that i couldn't take accounting II this sem. i was seriously feeling extremely wth already because that meant that i had to change my schedule in the 2 hours right before registering for my course. but i changed my modules accordingly, replaced accounting with another marketing module.

however during the course registration itself, when i first clicked to add mods at 130PM exactly, the entire system lagged and i DIDN'T GET ANY OF MY MODULES. but it was a slight scare as over the next 10 minutes i got 2 of my core modules already. the last module was the freaking irritating one though. it was the module that i didn't want to take in the first place; service marketing, which i replaced accounting with. stupid module didn't have any spaces, and when i called NBS UPO, they told me that all the slots were filled up completely already. so tell me, why on earth does the school insist on us keeping to specific modules but not want to release more slots for it?! urgh.

so in summary, i didn't manage to get all my core modules :(

after registration, i went to meet Bao for dinner and we had the cheap Manhattan grilled fish meal along with their mud-pie which was damn good! then we just walked around looking at clothes and all hehe.

doesn't look too appetizing but the butter rice is the best. i usually hate rice, mind you ;)

MUD-PIEEEEE YUMZ! damn rich and just way too awesome! 

saturday was Beer Market flea day with yingjun! i didn't manage to buy much, just a dress, a second hand Mango denim jacket from the scarlet room's stall and pastel yellow shorts from Marching Daisy! (Joey's shop hehe) total loot only cost me $28 hehe was quite happy about it :) met Nick after his training and we went to Orchard Central for dinner! we went to this cafe called Dean & Deluca, which i absolutely love! the ambience was good and the mac and cheese which we had was damn yumz! we shared an apple strudel from Ritz too whoop.

and then our food was done! mac and cheese with a small salad on the side! this was damn nice hehe i love it although it was a tad oily. but nonetheless it was still yummy cos the flavors were delish! :D

supper with the hallies on the same night at Geylang's frog porridge place hehe damn niceeee ^^ and it was a good time with them as always! oh, and it was the 3rd/4th consecutive day of seeing bao cos i saw her from sat night till sun the next day (after 12am) hehe.

then yesterday was spent chilling at home and ding came over for a run! we wanted to go for Gordon Ramsay but thankfully we didn't, otherwise we would have been mad squeezing with crowds!! hahaha.

so that sums up my previous week! my updates are pretty short cos i can't really think now.. my brain's kind of dead tired cos of my increasingly worsening flu too :(

its so cool how we all know one another ^^

we ate at a cheap Italian place called Saizeriya (which i had w Bao and Louis too) and spent only about $12 each despite ordering 2 desserts and one side dish to share, on top of our main dishes!

egg+potato+mushrooms+cheese+bacon. 3 out of my 4 favourite foods present! 

our lava cake which was disappointing for me as the 'lava' didn't ooze out :(

truffle ice cream! not bad! :)

i think that the place serves really decent food at an extremely reasonable price! plus side would be that the restaurant is situated in town, and it's difficult to find a place that serves cheap food so this would be pretty ideal for those on a budget :) the choices of food are good too, they even offer escargots at $5.90 if i'm not mistaken? i don't want to eat snails so i didn't order that haha.

went to 126 dim sum last friday with Nick after work! i had a traumatizing experience before i met him :< couldn't get in contact with him cos his phone died and we were at different sides of Aljunied. i absolutely detest BB now. the battery life is practically non-existent-.- thankfully he managed to get hold of a phone to call me and the person probably gave him directions to the Geylang East library (where i was) i never ever want to go through that again it almost made me cry cos i was frantically and desperately searching for a red Mazda :'(

we took a trip down his memory lane and went to look at his child care/student care centers! hehe. then we headed to 126 to have a quick dinner before our haircuts!

fried prawn rolls. i absolutely loveeee these. if you love har kows as much as i do, this would be perfect for you too^^ soft shell crab was good too! hehe. i prefer the prawn rolls while nick likes the crab more!

chee cheong fan with charsiew, xiao long baos and har kows! only the chee cheong fan was good, trust me. do not order the other 2 when you are there. hahaha. even though i love har kow, this was.. meh. try the bao jin tian ones, those are THE BEST.

we were rushing back to Tampines for our haircut hence we only had these :( its only my second time there and i def want to go back again for the prawn rolls!!

okay that's all for my updates! shall blog more when i'm free :) for now i need sleep so that my flu (hopefully) will go away.

#362 Monsters University/World War Z

i've always LOOOOOVED Monsters' Inc so when i found out that there was a prequel, i was so happy! :D immediately made Nick promise to watch it with me, quite some time ago.

however i was a teensy bit sad, because this movie wouldn't have Boo who's my all time favorite character in Monsters Inc :( she's so absolutely adorable and funny even though she couldn't speak in the movie except for 'kitty' and 'mike vazaoski' and of course her signature phrase, 'BOO!'

my favorite scene of her! sooooo cute!

a few of her funny moments in the movie, hehe. she's just too cute to be true!

but anyway, back to Monsters University! i went into the movie without knowing the storyline, but i enjoyed every moment of it. even though the plot is really simple, i thought that it was executed well and it had cute elements in it which i absolutely love ^^

the movie started off with (a very cute) baby mike! his voice was high pitched, he had retainers and he was so small compared to all his other monster classmates! it was a little sad though, because they outcasted him due to his size.

when they arrived for their class excursion to the Scream Factory

they had a class trip and Mike was 100% motivated by one of the scarers to enter MU's (Monsters University) Scare program!

after this, it gets fast forwarded to him entering university, where he meets his and Sully's future nemesis, Randall, who was also his room mate. however, Randall keeps wanting to be with the 'cool kids' while Mike just wants to excel in his studies.

a brawl between him and Sully during a class gets them kicked out of the scare program cos they broke the dean's 'souvenir from decades of scaring'.

eventually, Mike made a deal that if he could win the Scare Games, they were to be admitted back into the program. however, no one wanted to be a team with them, so they ended up with the Oozma Kappa fraternity!

they are a bunch of misfit monsters who were 'uncool' to the rest of the university students, and were also kicked out of the Scare program. thus this team was obviously deemed to be the first one to get kicked out of the Scare Games! they almost got eliminated but because another group cheated, they survived through and got through the rest of the stages too! :)

Mike was the one who taught them everything he knew, so that they were able to excel in the Games despite being the underdog. however, he was not scary enough and Sully knew it.

it was the final round between them and the 'obvious winners' of the Games. and this was the round where the animosity between Sully and Randall surfaced! they were competing against each other in separate scare simulators and because Sully roared super loudly, Randall fell from his hiding spot onto a heart-shaped print rug which caused his skin to take that print as well and he didn't quite scare the kid and scored a low point for the 'cool kids'. This made him not want to lose to Sully ever again!

ultimately, Mike scored a full score and OK won the championships! however, it was soon discovered by Mike that Sully had tampered with the simulator so that he could get a full score without much efforts at all. the entire OK team was disappointed in Sully too, and Mike was furious that Sully did not believe in him.

he stormed up to the lab where the students engineered doors to kids' rooms, and entered hastily. he tried to scare, but to no avail! alas, it was a camp dorm and there were at least a dozen kids in bunks! they all started moving towards him and then Mike escaped! Sully came through the door and found Mike. they started talking about their feelings and then ran away because humans were approaching.

on the other side, the dean had turned off the power to the door! but quick thinking Mike knew that if they could generate enough energy on their side, they could power up the door to return. so they began a plan to get the adults to scream enough and it worked! albeit too much because all the canisters were filled and some overfilled and exploded. they managed to return but got expelled :(

though this, the dean felt that they were special monsters.

and the both of them went on to working at Monsters Inc which leads to the movie! they worked as mail men, cafeteria helpers, cleaners etc. eventually, Sully became a scarer and Mike remains as his coach and they both remained best friends :)

the movie tells a tale of remaining true to yourselves, and to pursue what you want the most.

after the movie, we went to catch another one:

starring Brad Pitt, this was quite a typical zombie movie i guess?

my friend commented (on fb and he also told me on WA) that this movie was like playing L4D, what with the same types of weapons and also the way the movie progressed!

i didn't think anything much about the movie because it was so similar to what i've seen before previously! there isn't much storyline to this movie as well so.. i've got nothing much to say about it already.

if you like action and zombie films, then obviously you should watch it. but if you care for the storyline in movies, please do not watch it. there's isn't much storyline to watch for. the ending wasn't really great either (so you inject lethal viruses into humans as vaccines? wouldn't the people fall ill and die?)

Brad Pitt mentioned "This isn't the end. Not even close."

i have no idea why he said that haha. cos besides that phrase, it didn't seem to me that there was going to be any sequel..

oh there was one hilarious scene in the show though. after injecting himself with some lethal virus, Brad Pitt walked coolly past all the zombies who liked to make weird noises like chattering their teeth ALOT, and suddenly switched over to filming an advertorial.

seriously.

he headed over to a Pepsi vending machine and grabbed a can of Pepsi, drank it, and went 'ahhh'. omg it was totally funny because before he went 'ahhh' me and Nick already made that sound haha it was super dumb.

okay well that's all i have to say about the movies i caught!

is Man of Steel any good to watch by the way? please tell me!
